How do you raise your animals?
All of our animals are raised on the farm and according to our strict pasture-based, rotational grazing protocol. The best way to learn more about this is to come see it for yourself! To summarize, though, all of our animals are moved across our pastures in a carefully choreographed rotation that keeps both them and the land healthy and productive. Depending on the species, we move our animals anywhere from daily to twice per week. This constant rotation onto fresh ground assures that the animals remain healthy, clean and with full access to fresh, natural forage. It also gives the land the opportunity to rest and recover from the intensive grazing period.
Once I have ordered, how do I receive my products?
As you will see on the checkout page, you have several options for how to receive your order. You can pick up at the farm on Thursday or Friday mornings from 9 to 12, or Saturday afternoons from 12 to 3. You can also pick up at Ride+Reflect in Bernardsville on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11:30. For an extra $5 fee, we also offer home delivery on Thursday and Friday afternoons, starting at 3pm. If you opt for home delivery, please remember to leave a cooler out for us to leave your order in if you will not be home. Without a cooler we will not be able to drop off your order and will have to come back the next possible day.
Do you use humane slaughter practices?
Believe it or not, this is the most commonly asked question we get on the farm! We slaughter poultry (chickens and turkeys) ourselves on the farm, and we bring our larger animals (pigs and lambs) to a small, family-operated slaughterhouse nearby that we have known and trusted for many years. Our commitment across the board is to a humane, stress-free, as-painless-as-possible experience for our animals. Feel free to get in touch if you have any more specific questions. We are committed to 100% transparency on this and all topics related to how we run our farm!
